I have been looking at different tonneau covers for my new D-Max that is supposed to be in next week and am curious if there is any MPG savings when you have one? A few of the ads I have seen indicate there will be an increase in miles per gallon. Does anyone on here have any real experience with that or is this just sales talk?

Here's some previous discussion this topic ...

Tonneau cover and mileage (http://www.thedieselpageforums.com/tdpforum/showthread.php?t=26138) ..

FWIW, I have a ReTrax Rolltop (http://www.rolltopcover.com/) on my truck and I don't see any noticeable mileage gain.. However, it does a good job keeping the bed dry and secure..

Not to hijack the thread, but is anyone interested in a ARE fiberglass tonneau for a standard bed (6 1/2')? Color is arrival blue (2003 color). I paid nearly $800 for it, then was given a full cap. I've decided I like the cap better. It's like new, stored inside my shed. $500 OBO, it's in the Chicago area.

i have a access roll tarp. love it as it can be used in -40 and it only takes up about 4 inches of the bed when rolled up. as for milage it has helped about 2 mpg. it will take a long time to pay if fuel is only thing you are looking for. i love it for putting things in the bed , they are outa sight a little more secure then when wide open.

I've had a cover on every truck I've owned, have never noticed any difference in MPG's with or without it

but they are nice for keeping things dry:p
