Here are some photos of my 1998 Suburban. In these I was hooked to my parents' camper (28' 6600# empty weight which is how I pulled it). Need some mods to help towing it before the next time.

Nice looking combo!

Hard to tell from the picture, maybe a 2" drop ball hitch would level out the trailer, and reduce frontal area / wind drag. At 6600#, its not the weight thats slowing you down. Its the wind.

Mods I would suggest: 1) Intake / 2) Exhaust / 3) Turbo-Master / 4)Gauges / 5) Chip (in that order) until you find the power you are looking for...you won't believe the difference!

Is that an 88 Celebrity in the background? and a 1 owner 78 Suburban? Is there a 2 tone brown Suburban hidden somewhere also?... Nice lineup indeed...

I agree, drop that thing another inch or two. You should have a few more spots to adjust with on the weight distributing hitch.

Wow Rick, you drug this up from the archives. You're off by a year on the Celebrity it was an '89 and has since moved on. The '78 is a Blazer, and the Brown Suburban is still in NH. The line-up now has an '05 Silverado 2500HD and a 2010 Suburban 2500. And to the commenter on the hitch, it was adjusted prior to the trip but only had an opportunity to shoot the photo prior.

Do you have 3.73 or 4.10 gears?

I just sold a 99 with 4.10's and the same size tires. It did great. I had a 97 with 3.73's and the same size tires and it was a slug.

Run a set of 235/85R16's. Nice narrow 32's only 1/2" shorter than the current tires.

It has the 4.10s and goes pretty well with those tires. If I did it again, however, I'd get different wheels to tuck the tires in a bit more.
