I have a '97 with 140k miles and the original injectors. I am replacing the glow plugs and timing chain with a phaser kit after the holidays. Should I go ahead and tackle the injectors as well?

Sure, if you've got the tools to do the job. Since you're renewing the timing chaing with gears, your timing will be correct and you can safely use new injectors and you will then benefit from more power from fresh injectors.

You will need a 30MM deep socket for the injectors. Best route though is the Snap-on or equivalent socket made for these injectors.

Replace the fuel return lines on the passengers side with the newer braded fuel return line, that needs no miserable clips, you can probably re-use the lines on the drivers side.
