First off, this is my first diesel engine, and first on this forum. I have noticed that the LB7 has had Injector problems. Does the 2005 LB7 have as many problems as the older LB7,s and when does it usaully happen. I have 32134 on engine.

Thx rjracer.

Welcome to the Forums!

2004 was the last year model for the LB7. 2004.5 began the LLY, which is what is in your 2005. The injectors are different, and external to the valve cover. Problems with the LLY injectors seem to be minimal. My opinion, but fewer problems than I would call "normal".

...the redesign of the injector location makes replacement a little less labor intensive on the LLY and later, compared to the LB7s, where the injectors required removal and re-sealing of the valve covers.

Also, GM changed the spec on their OEM fuel filters - the lower failure rate on LLY and later could be related to this change, where early LB7s certainly were exposed to more fuel contaminants, early in their lifespan.

Search this forum on these topics, there is LOTS of information... Good luck?
