On a 4L60E (or 4L80E also) does anyone know of any reason, with a proper stand-a-lone controller, that you would not be able to engage OD while still in 1st gear? On the 4L60E, this would give you a 3.06 1st gear, 2.14 nd (1st + OD), 1.60 3rd, 1.00 4th and 0.70 5th!

Also, was the 4L60 still used in the 1994 Chevrolet trucks?

There are only two shift solenoids, therefore only 4 combinations of gear ratios.

It is not a stand-alone overdrive that can be engaged in any gear. You get 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th - you cannot do combinations of gears.
