View Full Version : Exhaust upgrade
Have just replaced the header pipe on my 94 6.5 to a less kinked and curved one, and would like to increase the size of my exhaust system beyond that point. There is a local muffler shop that can bend only 3 inch pipe, is this adequate or will I get much more performance from larger pipe of which I would have to go shopping elsewhere. I believe the stock pipe is 2.75 diameter.

Hi,
If you haven't yet done so, go over to the 6.5 page - alot of info about pipes over there - and a current thread right near the top. However, most will recommend a 3.5" system (try Kennedy Diesel). More and more are starting to use a 4" (try Pinnacle Performance). There probably are minimal gains of a 4" over 3.5", but noticable gains of a 3.5" over a 3".

You will not notice any gain with 3" over 2.75.Most likely the local shop doesn`t mandrel-bend either.I`d recommend buying a system.3.5 or 4,I`ve used both.Unless you`re every mod under the sun,the only difference will be tone.Try to go with one using the Ricor muffler.

The recommendations given here are good ones. Since this is a 6.5 specific question, it was moved to the 6.5 forum.
By the way, welcome to the Diesel Page! You've found the best place for GM Diesel information on the web!
