I had asked this in the fuel forum no answer so asking here.
What is best ratio for using 2 cycle in diesel fuel as lube?
Nobody really knows. The ONLY data I have ever seen on 2 cycle oil is the lubricity study over on the place for what the wear scar tells ya. They ran the test at 200:1. All the rest is personal opinion including mine.
I tried it about there and a little leaner. I like it a little leaner maybe 384:1 It seemed to retard combustion on start up when it was richer. The truck seemed to run well on it once warm.
My personal experience is that my engine seems to like about 1/2oz per gallon (256:1 for those of you who are into ratios). 1/4 oz didn't seem to do much, and anything more didn't give me any more benefit.

I found this forum and figure what the heck...
Well the ratio I've been using now since I start is 128:1 ratio for the older Cummins... 1st and 2nd gens. This will get you back to the lubricity level of the LSD which was between 350-450 HFRR.
The test diesel place did was at 200:1 ratio and it didn't get the HFRR back to where it should be with poor ULSD which was 636 HFRR (474 HFRR after the test)
So for us older truck I would suggest 128:! ratio (1 oz of oil to 1 gallon of fuel)

Having 3 different diesel trucks 94 cummins ram 3500, 99 gmc k2500 6.5td, 00 ford 7.3 f350 this answer helps decide an issue if not otherwise addressed would cause major PITA w/o 2 cycle.

The 2 cycle has been great plan to keep running it......................................

My 6.5td can't be happier and using it in my 12 valve cummins, and 2000 7.3 powerstroke.
Perhaps, other's using it can give an update as to how they like, or dislike 2 cycle added to diesel................
I monkeyed around with ratios with my 96 Burb 2500 and found that 1/2 oz per gallon was the ticket for me. I also run power services. I am a firm believer in the two cycle. My truck runs significantly better when it is in the tank.
There is a thread in here somewhere where somebody suggested just trial and error running ratios until you started to get the classic 2 cylce smoke out the tail pipe then back it down a bit from there.
