newbie fuel tank confusion

Bought a new body style 2007 2500. Like the truck so far, but confused. Owners manual says 34 gallon tank, bit I crawled underneath after filling up yet again, and stamped on the tank is a 26 gallon designation. 26 seems a little small, diesel milage is ok but I'm at the station alot. Is this the correct tank? Thanks for all the info from the site.

well on the older style, short boxes had 26 gallon, long box...34 gallon

True that. From what I've seen, it hasn't changed with later models.

Thanks for the info, sorry for the delay in responding. I guess i will have to look to aftermarket for additional fuel storage.

I have heard of people making the 34 gallon work on a short box but...I do not know what kind of mods are needed if any:confused:
