Yes, they have. Better filtration should help, but there is no guarantee.

I installed a CAT 750 filter post OEM & now at 80K my balance rates are like new. Most of my mileage is towing a 13K lbs 5er.
It is true if the secondery filter has a better filteration rate. I spoke to Racor they claim there filter has 2-4 micron filteration rate. Talking to Baldwin they claim the filter been used by Lubrication specialist foe $ 175 system has 5-9 micron filteration rate. Now what is the point to instal a filter as a secondary with less efficient filteration rate. Who makes a filter with finest filteration and who sales the system to instal the fine filteration.
Kennedy has an excellent kit on his site.

Testing a few years ago showed that Racor filters only stopped about 48% of dirt over 5 microns & the CAT 750 stopped 98+ over 2 microns. IMO It is a no brainer! You need the 2nd filter. After a few thousands of dollars in trials CAT came to this conclusion . That is where I got my info.
The new Racor double plea filter is 4 mocron 95% VS others. When you do a test you should be blind to the product, second you should do double cross to see if any any improvement occurs. That is the basics of testing otherwise has no value.

The Racor R60S which is a 2 micron will screw right on our filter head. But you have to buy the bowel that goes on the bottom of the filter.
Most run our filter pre OEM. Even though the filter is only 5 micron it is still passing through another layer of media. So if it removes 95% of the 5 micron particles through the first filter then it removes another 95% of the 5 micron particles in the second filter you have removed about 99% of the 5 micron particles.
The 5 micron size is what really harms the injectors. Also you will not fowl the filters as fast as you would a 2 micron. I ran the Racor R60S for about 20K miles and had to change it about every 8K. With the Baldwin 5 micron I can get to 12K but I change it at 10K. Also with finer filtration their has been out gassing issues which cause air and that causes stalls.
This is way it makes sense to run a 5 micron filter. 102K on my truck without any injector issues what so ever.
