Hi,
I have a 1998 chevy cheyenne 2500 with a 6.5 turbo diesel (VIN# 1GCFC24S7WZ251336) and i'm trying to determine if the engine will fit in a 1998 chevy cheyenne 2500 4X4 with a 6.5 diesel (not sure if it's a turbo) with VIN# 1GCGK29F7WE231081; that i hope to purchase. According to www.decodethis.com, these engines have 2 different horsepower/torque rating which leads me to believe they're not the same engine. My question is are they the same engine (perhaps www.decodethis.com is not reliable/accurate) and are they interchangeable? According to some research i've done online, there are 2 to 4 different types of engines that could possibly be in my truck (VIN codes F, S, M, or J). I'm not sure if I have the "F" or "S" because I don't know which digit to look at in the vin #...can someone please help me? Thank you.
