so as per my sig, in my 89 blazer i put a turbo from a 6.5 onto my 6.2

now i haven't put the engine back into the blazer yet, but i'm gettin to it very soon. but i'm concerned about the oil cooling lines. the stock ones from the 6.2 don't look like they will clear the exhaust manifolds from the 6.5

anybody else deal with this before??? have any advice??? :confused:

Haven't seen the issue here, but this could be a primary reason why those using this conversion primarily use the factory 6.2L manifold on the Driver's side, you'll just have to have a fabbed up exhaust crossover. no biggie.

wow, i didn't even know i could use my factory exhaust manifold with the turbo........i may just have to do that. even with the 6.5 manifolds i would have had to get the cross-over pipe fabbed anyways. my understanding is that it won't fit between the older frames

i have to add to this a little more now....

1) is it safe to run a 6.2 without the oil cooler lines? its not going to be used for any pulling...

2) would the oil cooling lines for a 6.5 work fine for this? hate to spend $300 and then find out they don't work.

if neither of these are good ideas i can always switch to the old exhaust manifold on the drivers side. just exploring my options

IIRC, the factory cooling lines should work fine for this install.

#1, no you shouldn't run the 6.2 with the oil cooler lines missing in action, or blocked off in the block (via a plug).

You could use the 6.5 line setup from two aftermarket vendors, like Lubrication Specialists, or Diesel Services Group. Then properly mount the cooler behind the grill.

This would bypass the factory lines going to the radiator cooler.

so your talking about plugging off the ports in the rad and putting an external rad just for the engine oil?

that doesn't sound like a bad idea, seems to me that it would allow more cooling. but my biggest concern was the clearance between the fittings and the exhaust, one of the lines has enough room, but the other does not as of now.

i'm going to check out these companies you mentioned. thanks

The real question on line clearance comes in on which exhaust manifold you're using?

With 6.2L manifold, you should just use the same lines just as though you've got a n/a engine.

With the 6.5TD manifold, you'll likely have conflict with the 6.2 style lines.

I'd still recommend for ease of install to use the 6.2L manifold.
