Broken Exhaust downpipe bracket

I had heard about broken brackets before, here in this forum. I had the exhaust system off my '01 recently and noticed the bracket on my truck was also broken.

This truck has 66,000 miles on it, and hasn't seen very many rough roads.

We welded the break without removing the downpipe - while dodging hot sparks... :) We'll see how it goes.

A friend of mine had his 01 welded back in 02 or 03 & it is still holding.

There is a bulletin that addresses this complaint. It is basically an updated bracket. ;)
