Can anyone offer any assistance please on information concerning what is called the "Driver" part on the fuel system on a 1995 6.5 turbo diesel? My problem has been happening for about a month now. As I'm driving the engine will die suddenly. I simply re-start and am able to continue. This has happened 3 times in a month. A General Motors shop has told me without looking at the vehicle that the problem is more than likely a "driver" part problem. The vehicle has 276000 Km's on it currently.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Doug
The driver they speak of is called the "PMD" and is the little black box on the LH side of the Injector pump
The symptoms you describe are classic pmd failure.
Any ses light present??
If not this is also a classic
Buy a new PMD kit with an extension cord and a cooler/mount kit and remote mount the thing.
Leave the old one on the pump
You can finesse the wiring off the old PMD with a little patience andm then plug in the new cord.
You will need a resistor for the new PMD as its tough to get the old one out of the existing PMD.
Use a #5 resistor in the pmd plug port. (its self explanatory when you see it)
Remote the PMD to a cool place behind the bumper in the air flow.
Good luck
