I need to top of the truck with dexcool (crappy dealer, rear end was a quart low and the degas bottle is about 2 quarts low or better)
What brand is recommended? I know to use dex-cool compatable anti-freeze, what brand does everyone buy? I almost bought prestone dexcool but wasn't sure.
thank you
Good Question ... I've always bought Texaco Havoline DEXCOOL but it's harder to find lately .. The local Wal-Mart used to carry Texaco but now only has Prestone .. the label says it's GM Licensed and Approved ...

I've used the Prestone ELC (neon yellow stuff??) and haven't found any reason to not. The label says compatible and maintains the ELC properties, so it should be fine unless someone lied.
...crappy dealer, rear end was a quart low ...
Carefull... some rears are not supposed to be filled to the level of the fill plug.

What is the correct RR level and how many quarts ?
According to my book, 3/4" below the fill hole. I basically filled mine up until the tip of my pinky came out with oil on it. I can't remember how many quarts it was. I think 3 1/2, but I'm not sure.
Changing my rear after 3k miles it was NASTY. Full of metal particles.
