View Full Version : 1989 6.2 thermostat question!
I have a 89 6.2 diesel in a 3/4 ton pickup, putting in a used engine and want to install a cooler thermostat. My local napa store call for a 195 degree stat. Want to find a cooler one. Is there another common stat I can buy locally, or do I have to buy one from a performance type supplier. Thanks
yesssssssssss, If you find a parts person whos is savvy you can get a 180F
Good choice me thinks

Thor,
Here is a suggestion. If your thermostat crosover manifold is similar to a 95's, I found that the thermostats from the earlier 6.2l's fit in the seat. They also get rid of the bypass flow valve that alters the flow of the coolant as the engine heats up. Try asking for a thermostat from a 1983 6.2l J code diesel. They had thermostats recomended all the way down to 160F.
