Just some more photos showing some progress.......

A special thanks goes out to Robyn, -who has been a vital part of this build, -Thank you!

Note, -plastigauge used for illustrative purposes and for verification. All journals and bearing bores were measured with NIST traceable mic's and bore gauges, however, the plastigauge is so close, -it's SCARY!

.002" oil clearance is great.

Awesome pics man!

Where is the stud girdle kit on the bottom ;) ?

Looking great, thanks for sharing about the Scat Crank, I may be calling them folks soon, Engine will be out of my rig tomorrow night late.

Very nice. What made you decide to go with a duel roller timing setup as opposed to the phaser gear setup?

I like it... I like it alot. Makes me want to do the same to mine. Only the thought of all the mundane work... oh... and something about the $$$ that is stopping me.;)

Well, mainly because I felt the money better spent elsewhere (pistons, crank, new balancers, etc.)

The fact is, -the chain works just as good, -just not for as long. The first chain made it to 200k, -and wasn't all that loose.

I'm certainly not against gear drives, and have run several PJ's on my SBC's, they do work well.

Thanks for the kind words!

Rich.

Stud girdle?? You mean those metal doo-hickeys that slow the shrapnel down?:D

I'm glad to hear you're tearin' into yours John.

The crank had to come out and take a trip to the polisher to arrive at the clearances (we) wanted, but I think it was time well spent.

I want to see some pictures of yours John.

Good, bad, -it doesn't matter, I just enjoy seein' what people are up to.

Glad to see that block looking so nice and the build going so well, I would agree about the gear drive I have it in my 6.5 I build in 05 was installed after engine was done and in truck, however I picked it up for $100 from a guys ex wife she keep the garage full of parts also picked up several other parts and pieces I think it did help when it came time to adjust timing little less play.

Hope you get thing running soon I sure the Jeep will be glad for a breather.

Yeah, they're prolly shrapnel catchers. I may be finding out in my '82 pickup, but I hope not to.

Engine's out, got 'er out by myself w/o the usual helping hand to steer the thing from bumping into stuff on it's way out. I did pretty good. I think all my local friends would rather be out drinking...

At least one buddy came over to help pull the hood before he had to head home.

I get to take some time tomorrow and start to take the sucker apart.

You sure about that Cat Yellow again? I've been told that might just be my curse. ha!

late!

John

Greg, I couldn't have done it without ya! (for those that don't know, Greg is the one who sold me this 506 block).

$100 for a gear drive is a smokin' deal for sure, -nice score.

I kinda wanted one, -but just couldn't justify the cost, -particularly when there have been SO many other expenditures on this project (crank position sensor, injection work, 97+ cooling, etc.)

I'm gettin' close!

Rich.
