Excessive Knocking and Smoking

I have an 83' C-30 Van and on the highway the other day I noticed a loud knocking or metalic rap. This is accompanied by excessive smoking. Both symptoms go away after letting it sit for a while, but come back eventually. It's got what I belive is 120,000 miles on it. It seems to lose power when this happens also. I'm thinking it may be time for a new set of injectors. Any other Ideas?

Could be a sticking or nearly stuck injector.

My last STUCK injector made the engine sounds horrible, a very metallic raping noise, I couldn't really drive it more than idle for fear of the noise.

There was a lot more WHITE smoke than usual as well.

Allright, I'm pretty sure that it's a stuck injector. Now to order a new set. Am I looking for any fine thread injector for the 6.2/6.5 or is there a diference between them after 1982? Thanks.

An '83 van will have fine thread short body injectors (due to being in a van).
