new fuel tank/sending unit

the top of my tank is rotted away along with the sending unit. After I replace the tank and sending unit how do you suggest I prime the truck?
96 sub, 160,000 miles

It should start up. Then bleed the filter. Probably ought to change it (filter) soon after.

The lift pump will pull from the tank to the fuel filter.
