I'm about to take my LBZ on it's first long trip, only have about 1100 miles on her now, we'll see how the MPG are pulling my 24' enclosed carhauler @ 4400# empty to Alabama, the return trip I'll be pulling approx 8500-9000#
I know my '04 6.0 gasser only got 7-10 depending on hills and wind
the only thing that I have done so far is the EGR block-off, my exhaust won't be in until sept:( but have another haul in sept, should give me an idea how much the exhaust has helped;)

Sounds like a great trip! You might consider changing your rear diff and engine oil before your return trip.
Good break in trip!
Along with diff oil (I actually don't change mine that early) I would consider the Allison spin on and teh engine oil/filter prior to departing and/or upon return.

thanks:D
she just got a fresh change of rotella 15w40, wasn't going to do the diff for a while yet, have 1/2 case of royal purple 75w90 in the garage :D
I'll do the trans filter when I get back, now if summit would get my exhaust in!!!
there prices on magaflow exhausts were $100.00 CHEAPER than anywhere else. I got the 4" turbo-back in the pro series for 361.00, everywhere else was almost 500.00
Kennedy, my install on the fingerstick is COMPLETELY undetectable:D
NICE KIT!!!
P.S. what pyrometer do you guys like, I seen a cool gauge pod that goes over the steering colum
and air filter
I changed my rear diff oil at 3500 miles and it was NASTY with a capital N. More metal particles than the magnet could hold. Glad I changed it out.
Where do you guys/gals get the Allison spin on filter so I can change some tranny fluid. I would also like to get a fuel filter as well. This is for the LMM.
Thanks,
Dakster

well the first leg of the trip is done, 13.67 mpg, under 65
12.6 to 11.7 at 70 in the hills, figured by calculator, the DIC is about 3/4 of a MPG off:mad:

I'll never go back to a gasser again;)
if I keep my speed down to 60, I get over 13 mpg, going through Ohio I had a heck of a tail wind, the mpg shot up to 15 mpg
pulling my trailer w/ the Dmax is such a joy compared to my old 6.0 gasser:cool:
Mark, that's next on my list ;)

I used to drive a 2000 F-550 w/ the 7.3 powerstroke, it's nothing compared to my Dmax:D

well I did change my rear axle lube, I must be lucky, next to no metal on the magnet :D
Couple of questions...
Are you pulling the cover or using a drain plug?
When you change the fluid, what are you putting back in?
I saw Mobil 1 synthetic gear oil at my parts store. Is that the ticket?
(remember, my choices are very limited here in BFA)
Should I look for something else in Fairbanks later this week?
Thanks

drain plug
I'm using Royal Purple 75w90, meets both GL-4 & GL-5 requirements
i've used it in my '04 2500 HD & my 600+ HP drag car for years
not to mention I had a 1/2 case here in the garage, so no need to go buy some:p
