View Full Version : Fuel Guage ??
Ok. This is my first diesel. And probably a dumb ?
When I fill up the fuel guage doesn't go to full for awhile. Is this normal because of the foam or what? I can fill up and see the fuel so I know it's full, but the guage will say 1/2 or 3/4 for awhile then finally go to full. Today I filled up then went about 20 miles before it finally went to full.
Thanks

Are you filling with the truck running? Sounds like what happens when you do (normal). The gage level is after the BCM logic, so it has to go through there before you see what the sender is doing. Otherwise, as long as it does finally get to where it should be (within a reasonable period), that's about all we can expect of GM gages. Nothing new there.

could be a sender issue. Dampening for the fuel gauge is a 10 or 20 second trailing average IIRC.

I fuel my 06 with it running about 90% of the time and it takes like 15 to 20 miles before it goes up just past the full mark, but I have noticed that if I shut the truck down for like 10 mins. when I crank her back up she goes to full very quickly. Hopes this helps
60 MPH ALL DAY-EVERY DAY:cool:
Yes I leave it running, keep the A/C going because it's so hot in South Georgia. I'll shut it off the next time I fill up and see what it does.
Thanks
Ok. I filled up today with the engine off, when I finished and started the truck the fuel guage went to full, DIC said 457 miles to go.:D
