Tire Question

Replaced the stock Bridgestone V773's on my '05 2500HD with Michelin LT245/75-16E's. Seems to me that even at 50 psi running emty, I feel bumps, expansion joints, etc. a lot more that with the old tires. I put this same tire on previous trucks, '98 Dodge Cummins, HD 3/4 and 2001 2500HD; and don't recall any rougher/stiffer ride characterisatics. Anyone else had any recent experiences with the Michelins?

I loved them, even plowing snow

I have the bridgestone on the new 07, and yes they do ride smoother, wonder how they will proform this winter with the plow

Michelin X series. A world of difference than the LT/MS series (which I ran for years on end).

I traded the Mich X series that I had on the 2002 (1000 miles on the tires) in a direct wheel-for-wheel swap when buyig the 2007. The new Firestones and (same style) wheels went with the 2002. I like the Mich X series a lot. Size 265s are all I care for.

I think for all practical purposes, you'll feel a concrete surface long before anything else. Tough surface but rough. Asphalt will spoil you. :D I travel from state to state with work. Man, crossing a state line onto concrete is a rude awakening. Just food for thought.

I run Michelin LTs in 265s on my 03. I usually run the pressure around 40 PSI unless I'm towing/hauling. Makes the ride a lot smoother. Local Discount Tire recommends 35 PSI unless loaded, but that seems to put too much bulge in the sidewall for my taste.

What puzzles me is why the same tire (LTX) didn't seem to ride as rough on the previous 2 trucks. I'm wondering whether Michelin strengthened the sidewall since my last set which was 4 years ago. Maybe I'm just getting old and feel it more.
