View Full Version : Diablo Predator question
I found someone selling a Diablo predator for LLY which he says he used only to clear codes, calibrate the speedo and read engine parameters. If he never installed an engine tune from the thing, is it VIN locked ??? (which requires a trip to the factory to unlock for $100.00 as I understand).

I have an 'early' Diablo that is VIN locked to a 2001 K2500 that I no longer own. However, I still have the ECM from that truck, so, theoretically I could install both back on any LB7...
'Later' Diablo's don't VIN lock, according to the tech I spoke to at DiabloSport. I suggest you call them with the product ID from the box it came in, and find out for sure.

I'm not sure what year they stopped the VIN lock, but I don't think LLY's do. In any case, if it does, using any modified tune will require a lock. If only the speedo correction was used, it is still a modified tune, and will lock to the VIN. That is, if it locks at all. As Mark said, call Diablosport with the serial # and find out for sure. Also, make sure the previous owner restores his OEM program, or you won't be able to use it, and Diablosport won't clear it. Even if it is not locking, it will only program one vehicle at a time.
I was thinking of buying a used one and was trying to figure an appropriate price based on the need for factory unlocking charge.... I'll try to get the serial number and call Diablo. thanks guys!!

$90 for unlock - you have to call and get an RMA#. They also flash with all latest upgrades and I have been told that some people actually get a new / refurbished unit back if their hardware is outdated or doesn't test out.
Agreed - their customer service is great.
(In a perfect world, they'd contract John Kennedy to write their tunes...)
