My 1993 6.5 Turbo diesel 3/4 ton 4x4 is suddenly hard to start when it is hot..
It seems as tho the glow plug indicator is only illuminated for a short time .
It is starting to affect the starter motor.
What is most likely the cause and what should I check first.
I am a nebie on the forum and hope to learn lots here ..

Welcome to the 'Page, bbdad............
Symptoms are failing DB2 Inj Pump - get the Stanadyne model number off the tag, driver's-side low, and the color of that tag - if it's black, and no small green-tag on the top cover, definitely time for replacement\upgrade - those are noted for hard hot-start.
Low starter-motor speed is also a problem - low battery voltage is problematic - battery cables and grounds are causitive, as are worn starter brushes, bearings, bushings

Good Day!
What they said, esp. gmctd. In my limited experience, when hot-starting a 6.2/6.5 with a mechanical IP like yours, you should have a hard time releasing the key quickly enough. They seem to require maybe 1 cylinder firing to start hot.
Good Luck & Blessings!
