Lucas Oil

I have been following the posts on the NP 246 transfer cases and I just wandered if using Lucas oil products in the case might be helpful. Does anyone have any experience using the Lucas products, if so, which ones and what applications?

I've wondered about the same thing, in that would synthetic ATF help those NVG-261/263 case halves that experience more wear than normal? If you try it, use a synthetic ATF that meets the specs listed in your owner's manual (Dextron III or IV).

Not all cases are affected by excessive wear. I recently had the transfer case apart on my 2001 GMC 2500HD with 63,000 miles - just to check for transfer case pump wear in the rear case half and install the Merchant Automotive transfer case pump upgrade. My case half showed minimal wear - everything looked normal, but I installed the upgrade anyway.

Interesting thought.
Has any one checked transfer case failure with build dates or vin number ranges for the 2001's. I wonder if something happened with assembly process?
