I Bought a new 05 LLY 2500HD crew cab. I liked the truck for the most part. I had issues with MPG and the never ending clutch fan. I just got into a 07 LBZ and am very happy so far. More power, less noise, better MPG and a 6 speed tranny!
I just bought an '07 2500HD D/A today to replace a '99 3500 with the 6.5TD. I also am very happy with the increased power and am amazed at how quite it is. The 99 had almost 200,000 on it and still running pretty good, it got 20mpg empty. Hope the Duramax can get that much since i run empty half the time. Enjoy your new truck,I'll do the same.:)

Cdub , I would expect around 17 mpg with your new ride.... They have power and they are quiet but dont get the economy the older truck could get.
every truck since my 93 6.5 td has got slightly less MPG then the truck it was replacing. I figure its allthe EPA crap they have to put on them and pilot injector on the newer trucks .
93 truck c -2500 two wheel drive = 20~21 mpg
96 k 2500 extra cab 4x4 = 18~19
2001 lb7 duramax extra cab 4x4 17~18 mpg
2004.5 lly duramax crew cab 4x4 16~17
2006 lbz duramax crew cab 4x4 15~16 mpg
all averages, every truck had more power then the one it replaced and each of them had some minor mods. I am sure I can get better fuel economy if I slowed down some or put a egg under my foot like some owners but thats not me and never will .
