In considering options to replace my seized 6.2 in my 85 K10 I have located two used engines. The first is a 1983 6.2 with 130K complete with accessories and pump for $500. The second is a 1994 NA 6.5 with 85K from a civilian Hummer for $1K. Will all the accessories from my 6.2 bolt onto this 6.5? Would the 6.5 be serpentine? Will this 6.5 have mechanical injection? My truck has a Banks turbo on it now. Will that setup bolt onto the 6.5?

Either engine will bolt right in.
The 6.5 will need a couple of changes to work properly, but it will work and look just like the 6.2L in the chassis.
The injection pump on the 6.5 will need to be re-calibrated to be used in the 6.2L chassis in front of a TH700 transmission.
The 6.5 N/A engines have the engine speed governor set at a max of 3600 RPM, the 6.2's would rev to 4100, the TH700 trans Diesel governor it set to shift at a spot on 3800 RPM at WOT. See the problem with the 6.5 pump?
The next thing that would have to change is the water pump to be used in the 6.2 truck with v-belt accessories. The waterpump turns counter-clockwise due to the belt routing. The v-belt turns clockwise, so a new 6.2L waterpump is in demand here.
Strip the engine down to what you need, the Banks equipment will bolt right up.

Any clear advantage the 6.5 would have?
