How often does he change the oil in the diff? Doesn't take much water to make it foam like a mad dog. Should also check to see if the breather is clear.

Bot a brand-new 02 Yukon, and the day we brought it home it puked it's front diff fluid all over the underside of the vehicle, driveway, and garage. Smelled really good on the exhaust.

Defective breather.

It's also very important to route the breather tube so it has no dips or loops (aka: trap). Anywhere lube can pool will cause a blockage and pressure will build in the diff, until it blows out. This can also cause the diff to leak lube at the shaft/pinion seals, or suck in water when it cools off. Same thing applies to the rear diff.

I don't know why GM (and the others) didn't use a bellows type breather, like on ATV's. Sure would go a long way to eliminate this, and other, problems.
