hello I have a 06 lly and I am wondering were the oil pressure should be at idle when engine is warmed up and where it should be when you are driving and 65 mph with no load on my oil pressure is @ 22psi @ idle and 55psi @ 64-65 MPH is this right? In case you are wondering I am running amsoil 15-40 syn in there oil pressure does not change much when oil has 2 miles on it or 9000 miles on it the only reason I am asking is because i drove a lb7 and the oil pressure at idle was like 35psi warm and 70psi going down the road at 65mph with no load:rolleyes:  lb7 had about 35k on the clock and my lly has 56k on her now

My LLY idles at about 30, and a hair under 60 at 2,000 rpms when engine temp is up to normal range. Citgo 15-40. Yours sounds normal to me from what I've read here in the past.

Ditto on the LLY oil pressures..... I've read a plausible explanation on the TDP in the past for the oil pressure differences between the LB7 and the LLY. I just can't remember when or who...... they say the mind is the second thing to go!;)

The guage calibration and senders were changed, so what you are used to seeing on the LB7 and what you'll see on later engines will differ.

At one time I had to LB7s and one LLY. It drove me nuts - as I am a gauge watcher.

Dealership told me anything above 14lbs at hot idle is within spec, IIRC.

all the LB7 motor have higher oil pressure , I think GM tried to cure the poping noise at idle woth this change ...Less pressure = better fuel economy is also poss some of GM thinking. Both the lly and the lbz that I have owned run at 23~25 at idle warm , my lb7 ran at 35 warm.

what will really make your heart skip, is 25-30 psi at 2000 rpm when at the top of a grade, pulling hard. Even more scary is the oil temperature.

where is it on the canadian version. we don't have pounds.

My pressure is about 3-4 little lines at hot idle.

Yours is kPa?

If so, 10 PSI = 69 kPa
50 PSI = 345 kPa

so, if this is the case then my truck runs at 350kpa at 70 mph and at idle it is at 150kpa. when it first starts it is around 500kpa.

is this normal. this truck is new to me.
