I bought another truck last week,a 1994 GMC. It was running fine until tonight. I went to start the truck and the glow plugs would not cycle. The service throttle light is blinking on and off. It won't even attempt to turn over. I've never had this problem before with any of my other trucks with the 6.5TD. Any help would be appreciated.
Pull codes ( http://www.thedieselpage.com/members/trblcode.htm )and post. Should be one or more stored as indicated by the light.
Sounds like an easy problem to fix, but may take some work to identify.
Hi there,
After retrieving the codes, Start with the simple things first, Check battery voltages, if need be remove the cables and check each battery individually. If the battery voltages are OK get a battery load tester and check the battery condition, again do them individually.
Check connections at the batteries and the condition of the cables.
If that checks out I'd try the ignition switch next.
Let us know how you get on and good luck

I had the same thing happen to me after I first bought my truck - dead batteries. Low voltage will cause the service throttle light to blink on and off. I ended up replacing the batteries, battery cables and the almost dead motor starter.
