I call myself looking for a post along these lines, but as of yet, nothing. I am swapping a 94 3500 6.5td chevy into a 98 3500 6.5td gmc. I am looking for wiring diagrams for both trucks and any advice to make the swap easier. Also, if I cannot hook up the electronics, what are the possibilities of using a 6.2 manual pump on the 6.5td? Thanks

As far as I know. The swap should be straight forward. All the sensors should be the same, and if not, they will easily change out with the 98 ones of the bad motor.

You're going to have to strip the 94' block of all the accessories and then transfer over all the parts from the 98' block onto the 94' block, the alt and a/c compressor are located differently between the two blocks.
The injection pump does not have to be changed unless it is an original 94 pump that uses an oddball chip or if the 98' block has a lower mileage pump.
The injectors can be left alone or swapped if the 98's are lower mileage also.
Your biggest problem is that the oil cooler lines on the 98' truck will not fit into the 94' block. You may want to go with "Oil Specialist" aftermarket kit or swap the complete cooler and lines from the donor truck into the 98' truck.

Install a new crank sensor when you are swapping the parts over because the power steering pump will be out of your way.

I forgot to tell you that the 98 has the wires cut at the firewall and the motor was taken. I am trying to put my truck back together because it was stolen last month. I was hoping to find out which wires were what on both trucks, so I can piece it back together. I have everything for the 94 just do not know where to hook it. Thanks for the help.

I would go looking for a 98 in a junk yard and get a 98 harness and cut it the same place, solder and heat shrink all splices,go over the donar harness while it's out looking for any worn spots so you fix them befor you hook up to your engine.
Trying to mate the 94 harness to the 98 is probly going to be tough, and with all the gremlins that attack the electronics in these trucks, you should keep it as stock as you can.

Do you have the complete 94 truck?

I would just swap out harnesses too, I wouldn't try to cut and splice.

I was going to try that, but where they enter the cab are different. If anyone knows where to find wiring diagrams for both trucks would make it much easier. thanks
