Okay did a search & didn’t come up with exactly what my truck is doing. I went to drop my son off after work shut the truck off for about 30 min. When I started it & put in reverse to back out of his driveway I put it in reverse & the reverseindicator was blinking. I put it back into park & then back into reverse & all was fine. Any body no what would cause this. Most of what I read had to do with the truck after sitting for a while. This is not the case. Hope someone can help me with this.

Thanks

There is a survice bulletin on the PRNDL switch and they will replace free.

It has to do with water/contamination getting into the PRNDL switch on the side of the transmission housing.

One of the symptoms in the bulletin is blinking "P" or "R".

My dealer replaced it free under the emission warranty (go figure).

apparently the emission warrantly is longer than the 3yr/36k mile warrantly.

Ask for that info specifically.

The fix is a new switch with a better rubber boot that keeps out the elements.

I have 120000 miles on my truck I dont think it's under any kind of warranty any longer. Is this something a person could do there self?

I don't know whhy but every time I try one of these links it asks for user name & password. I try the same one I use to log on to the DP but it won't let me open the page.

Okay, I haven't kept up with this thread. Mine was doing the same thing. Blinking indicator in Reverse (and no Reverse) then said "Range Shift Inhibited".

Turned out to be the ignition switch, not the NSBU switch.

To tell you the truth I have'nt had any more problems with it. I was going to go out and get me a NSBU switch but now i'm not sure.
