What I have:

94 6.5TD w/single alternator.

What I want:

Dual alternator setup

What do I need is my question.

I know the 95/96's and up have the AMB (ambulance) option that gives them dual alternators. I also know that you can go and buy brackets, belt, harness, belt-tensioners and such to retro fit a single alternator 95/96 and up into a dual alternator setup.

By the notion that they have the same block and working up stream from the belt. This is what I see that I need.

-96 p/s, A/C, Vac pumps
-96 idler pulley
-96 belt

Up stream from the pumps, what brackets would I need?

I don't want to go for a re-wound that gives me 250amps because if it ever fries on me then the truck will be down to wait for another re-wound. I rather have off-the-shelf stuff that I can get locally.

Thanks
Matt

i have a 95 C3500hd. i converted to dual alternators. The 94 - 95 are the same, RPOs KXB and YF2. KXB is the alternator and YF2 is the PS pump. you need both, the PS pump has a remote fluid reservoir like many of the MD trucks. Some of the following part no. are still available through GM, if you have trouble i left my email there are some obsolete GM parts sources for whats missing. Try to get a GM parts counterperson to print out a detail.
10225378 brace, 10224901 bracket, 10226032 brace, 10227141 brace, 10051576 pulley, 26048828 reservoir, 26053575 hose, 26060588 pump asm. dont forget bolts, clamps, and belt, and oh buy the way about 700.00! good luck Mark, mkhagemann@msn.com
