I searched the board and I am still not clear how you se the TDC offset on a 94 - I have a 94' suburban.

1) Can you change the tdc offset without changing the timing?
2) can you use anything else besides a tech I to do timing changes?
3) Would I have to rotate the Injection Pump to set the TDC offset?

Kevin

You don't "set" it. The PCM "learns" it. The only way to learn it on an ODB I truck is with a Tech 1 or 2. As in school, you can learn the right thing or the wrong thing. This, I think is where the idea of "setting" comes from. To change the range of values that can be "learned" you have to adjust the pump.

Maybe the members of the board mught be able to steer you in the right direction if we knew why you wanted to adjust the timing.

Looking for performance?
Did you just do some work?
General knowledge?

Inquiring minds want to know..

I am trying to get a little better milage right now - I'm averaging between 14 and 15 mpg - I figure I would getting the tdc offset to -1.94 and that might help - with the milage on my truck, I'm thinking that it wouldn't hurt to retime my truck.

I've done the cooling mods, remoted mounted the FSD and this was next to try.

Ok I understand...

In the case of you looking for a specific setting, you're best off going to someone with a tech1 or tech2.

I have one but am probably outta the way.

Any good repair shop should be able to do this...then again make sure they know GM diesel.
