I did some searching through the forum for life expectancy. Thought this has all ready been talked about.
I have a 98 Suburban that had the pump replaced about a year ago. Come to find out this is the second time it has been replaced.
Questions are, how good is the new injection pumps, how long should they last? Should I stay with the electronic version and get a reflash program for more Power, or change over to the DB2 mechanical for more power? hmmm
Thanks for any responses

It seems that the latest pumps are much better than the older ones. My pump was replaced in 2000 under warranty at 75,000 miles with the latest, most up-to-date unit (still is, as far as I can tell). My truck now has 191,000 miles on it, so that is 116,000 miles on this pump. FSD is still mounted to the pump. No problems whatsoever.

I have 132,000 miles on pump 3rd FSD
The pumps I would think were changed under the 11 year 120,000 GM coverage. They tend to change the whole pump out when it's only the PMD/FSD. The pumps are Electronic controlled and it's the electronics that is the week link. I would spend the money or hassels changing to a manual pump.
I would consider getting a remote Fuel Driver mounting kit either from Heath or Kennedy and either put it on or have it ready for WHEN your PMD dies unless you have a ways to run till you get 120,000 miles.

Good Day!
My pickup: bought w/ 80K miles, now has ≈ 192K, same IP (green tag - almost certainly changed before I bought the truck).
Blessings!
