8.1 Liter?

what does 8.1 come in and what is that? a 7.3 is a 454 so what is an 8.1?

2500 Suburban, Yukon XL and Avalanche 2002-2005 (Not quite as sure on the years)
Express/Savana 2003-2006

Also GM Medium Duty Trucks, not sure when it started, maybe 2002, thru present.

Depending on what you need for power and or what you want to stuff it in. Get a crate 502 engine, they are available in a variety of power levels. And will work with almost any GM rig

These beasts are a force to be reckoned with for sure.

Local fellow here has one stuffed in a 95 Tahoe (2door) and its been tweeked a bit more than the law allows He has a 4L80 buckled up behind it with a stand alone computer.

I believe he has, last I heard, a Holley 4 hole TBI up top to fuel the beast.
All the factory computer stuff is gone off the truck. He has it real simple and easy to keep running.

The thing is a sleeper and will eat just about anything.
The give away is the two huge pipes coming out the back and the sound is awesome.

I do believe he has a worked over 14 bolt in the rear.
I know for fact that the original rear gear box went away shortly after the 502 went to work up front.
He has a 6.5 diesel radiator in it cooling the beast too.

I have driven it once and it brings back memories of long ago when big power was the everyday thing.

Coming out of the hole I dont think I have seen any newer rigs that will even come close to touching it.

Maybe a Vette or some such beast but no SUV is gonna even get close

The engine was a 502/502 when he bought it but I dont have a clue what all has been done to it since it went into the Tahoe.
Its very thumpy sitting there idleing. :eek:

Other than the strange deep rumble it has you can't tell its anything other than an inocent little Tahoe from the outside.

Not even any tweeky looking 20 inch rims just stock GM alloys.
