As reported here some months ago, the new GMT-900 HD pickups get an uprated hitch trailer GVW of 13,000-lbs - up from 12K. To go along with this, the receiver hitch was enlarged from 2" to 2-1/2". Adapters are available that adapt the more common 2" hitch hardware to fit the new 2-1/2" receiver.

Latest word is the GCVWR (Gross Combined Vehicle Weight Rating) has been increased to 23,500-lbs for the 2500HD/3500. This could change.... All three manufacturers are still playing the "more power/tq, highest payload and tow rating" game. :)

But GM has done nothing to the truck itself to update the numbers right? A new hitch on the old chassis. Any word on when and if they will up the axle weights and total GVW of the trucks?
