Hi, On the outlet of this DB2 pump for cylinder number 1 there is this "extender". Can anyone tell me what the part number and/or description of this is so I can buy another one? It seems to be nothing more than an extender, it looks just hollow in the inside.

Thanks!
No - that is the piezo-crystal timing sensor, used for several types of timing meters for cyl#1.
Stanadyne part - why are you replacing it?

I'm converting from the DS4 to a DB2. I had to borrow this piezo sensor and I need to get another one to return to the person I borrowed this one from.
Can you give me any details on how a timing meter gets a signal from this sensor? Do you just clamp a probe on it? Do you know of any timing meters that would work with this sensor?
I've never seen, or heard of anyone discussing this sensor before I encountered it.
Thanks for the info!

Yep, timing adapter. I've actually never seen the adapter used to connect to that thing to get the reading from...
Plus, it's in a place on the engine that's really NOT accessable. In reality, it's GM/Stanadyne's copy of what Ford did on their IDI 6.9 and 7.3L.
But.. the lines you have are made for this adapter, so you'll need one in it's place so you can return the one you have to it's home.
You can either replace #1 injection line (they are avail separatly), or find the adapter.
I happen to have one that's extra. PM me if you're interested.

PS. Nice 141 block!
A piezoelectric crystal generates a high voltage in response to a physical stress. Ignitors for gas grills work this way. I don' know for sure, but I'd expect an inductive timing light would trigger off this thing.

So they made them with and without the sensor, right? Do you happen to know which vehicles came with it? Does it depend on what year the truck is, or something else? My curiousity is up about it.
Thanks!
I found one of those little creatures on a 6.5 I got from a 92 pickup
Stands to reason they'd be on the mechanical pumps and not on the electronic ones...

As far as lines, I think I've seen lines that didn't have the adapter for 6.5.
All 6.2 lines don't have the shortened line for the adapter tho.

The 6.2 pipes are smaller i.d. than the 6.5 stuff - IIRC the latest 6.2 is .095 and the 6.5 is .109 or .119.
Don't wanna mix'em, fer sure.
The -4911 is GM's ccw spec for the Ford 7.3 cw version of that DB2

:) If you can get one from John 8662, it might save you some $. I replaced the one that was leaking on my 4911 conversion, just to maintain pipe diameter. Cost? If I remember correctly ~$46! The tech. that helped me time the pump didn't use that sensor, either. Took a pressure pulse at the No1 glow-plug hole.

Yes, thanks I PM'd him and it is on it's way.
Thanks everyone for all the information.
