Synthetic ATF, Mobile 1 or Amsoil

Am going to Synthetic for my 4L80E automatic transmission. Debating between Mobile 1 and Amsoil. Amsoil has test data showing why their product is best. Mobile 1 has data on their procuct but no comparisons. I like comparisons, but Amsoil is not exactly a non biased party to conduct a comparision test. Anyhone have some comparison reports or?

You won't likely find any real comparisons. Just testimonials. Even "indepenent lab tests" are nothing more than marketing angles, and no better than testimonials. I use Amsoil. I like it and will continue to use it.

Any of the name brand true synthetics are good, including M1. Amsoil has 2 synthetic options for your application. The Universal synthetic is a direct replacement for off-the-shelf fluid, and TorqueDrive is an upgrade fluid with the TES-295 compliance. The TES-295 compliance is a specification for Allison autos, like Transynd. For the 4L80E, you need a "standard" fluid, but the Amsoil TorqueDrive is labeled to also be completely compatible for Dexron-X use.

I posted about the two Amsoil synthetics ATF's. Was hoping Greg would comment on the "new" Amsoil synthetic. Sounds like it is made for the new Allison, not sure if is if good or useful for the 4L80E.

Call him, or post in the advertiser's forum. He's usually pretty good about responding.

Have not been on the forums much this year because I have been ultra busy which is not a bad thing but, it also means that something thats not as pressing is going to get lost in the mix. If anyone has sent me and email and didn't get a responce within a day or two its because I didn't get it. With the old site we had email issues but I think it has been OK with the new site which has been up for about 4 weeks now.

You can use the Universal or the Torque Drive. In the 4L80E I don't think you will have any real advantage using the Torque Drive so save a liitle money and use the Universal. Another option is the Super Shift, but standby because it will shift hard and fast.
