I recently obtained a donor truck with a mech. injected 6.5. Supposedly low mileage '99 block. Starts great, even cold. Not sure how long it has sat unused, but its been on my trailer for a few weeks. I started it the other day and let it idle for an extended period of time (heat in the cab). I noticed excessive blowby from the dipstick tube. The wastegate had been wired shut previous to my ownership. I had planned on replacing the head gaskets and repairing the wastegate before the swap into my '87. (as opposed to refreshing and adding a turbo to my 6.2). I have concerns about the blowby. How far and in what direction should I go with this 6.5 before I remove it (to determine cause of the blowby or at least reduce it) and put it on a stand?
