I am soon going to need a new exhaust system for my 6.2 and was wondering if there is a good stainless system that I can get to give this engine the exhaust it deserves. Also my truck came with a 4 speed manual transmission that was better designed to pull stumps that roll down the highway...is there a 5 speed that would bolt up and where can one be found?
Thanks guys...some great info here!

You can install the NV4500 out of the 92 and up chevy (it might be 93... I'm not sure right now)

In California wrecking yards, they go for about 1500 bucks with a transfer case, of course, that case has an output on the wrong side for the straight-axle trucks. Adapters are available, contact Advanced to see what you can put with each tranny.

Lots of people seem to want to swap these out, and I've considered it myself. But... the transmissions are huge. You will be looking at custom driveshafts, modified cross-member mounts, and you have to have a hydraulic clutch master cylinder to run the newer clutch. It sounds like a fun project but... lots of work.

Consider this... with factory 3.42 gears, and 33x10.5 tires, my truck would do well over 80mph before the turbo was installed. The speedo quit working long ago, so I verified this with my GPS unit. I would imagine that some day the highway patrol will confirm it for me...

The truck won't haul or tow a whole lot, but it manages to trailer my other toys just fine. It has routinely pulled 5 or 6,000 lbs before the turbo project, and was capable of moving around. I would wonder just how fast you could expect the truck to go? Installing another transmission is an expensive way to gain a few MPH on the top end.

If you decide to do it, good luck. The hydraulic clutch master cyliners were found on 86 and 87 trucks. Maybe also on 85's. You have to get the whole pedal assembly. It drops out easily.

Thanks for the info on the NV 4500. You have given me something to think about and I appreciate it. Any suggestions on an exhaust and headers?
