Ok I have some nock coming from the #6 cylinder, I've cracked the line and it goes away I've put a different injector in same thing, I've moved injectors and it stay's at #6 cylinder. I have'nt checked compression yet but my scan tool gives me a code 96 #6 cylinder fuel failer. Could this be a pump problem or did I score a cylinder... Thanks
Check the compression first then we can proceed.
Anything around 350 and up will work.
Check the ones on either side too to see if there are any wierd things going on

My 1993 had a knock in
#6 that started about the 50,000 mile mark. Like you I tried swapping the injectors, pulled valve cover for a look, and checked the glow plug for missing parts ALL to no avail. I then put a quart of ATF in the crank and ran it for 100 miles then changed the oil. This motor was very well serviced (by me) since new. THe ATF did the trick and I have had to do it a couple more times at about the same mileage.

OK, what does the ATF do for the motor, that would eliminate a knock ?
Clean out oil passages ?

#6 is right below the turbo and on mine it was a lifter sticking the atf will clean it up. IF the knock continues on after the atf has been in a couple of days you have a much more serious problem than a sticking lifter.

found the problem sat. I finally got time to pull it a part:eek: Two of the mains broke I can see where they had been moving before they let loose.
I just uploaded some pic's to album. I can seem to figure out how to get them here.
