350 Gasser to 6.2 Diesel exhaust question

My 1976 chevy 350 gasser has a single exhaust it uses a cross over pipe. I'm replacing the gasser with a 6.2 diesel engine. Will the 6.2 run with the old gasser single exhaust?

The factory exhaust system on all pre-88 6.2's was a true dual exhaust system using 2.25" pipe.

What is the size of the pipe you're using after the x-over pipe?

The exhaust on the truck now is 2" at the tailpipe, I don't know if its 2" from the manifold side.
Do you think I can run this stock system for the left side and just add a second exhaust on the right side?

I do not think the left side will bolt right up. It will probably need modification. If you can weld or get access to a welder, buy tubing from jegs and make your own exhaust. The pieces will only be about $200 and it will flow much better, giving better power. The exhuast tips can come out before the rear wheels to make it easier and give it a custom look.

The problem is my truck has a passenger side, side saddle fuel tank. The position of the fuel tank makes running a dual exhaust a problem. I have a welder so I'm thinking about making a y-pipe using stock 6.2 exhaust pipe. Then run a 3" exhaust from the Y-pipe back including a 3" inlet / outlet high flow muffler.

What do you guys think of a setup like that on a stock 6.2 non-turbo diesel engine? Will it kill performance or make no difference over a dual system?
