Service throttle light

Howdy
I had a idle truck today. The throttle skipped a few beats and then she went dead, service throttle light came on and all she would do is idle. I shut her down/restart and was on the raod again. My onboard scanner never registered a code.
I did a search and it seems that people recommend a new throttle control(foot-feet). Before I run and buy one are there any other issues that could cause this problem. I use this rig EVERY day for family transport and a dead truck in Minnesota can be a survival issue...

I wouldn't think this one would cause it to die, unless you have some other loose electrical stuff.

But, after checking connections, the problem does indeed point towards the APP.

I miss-spoke....The throttle went dead, not the truck. The truck dropped to an idle and I had a dead foot-feet.

In 180,000 miles it has never set a code that I didn't help it set. So no code, what are you thinking of?

I've had this problem a couple of times. Each time it has been a bad connection or a bad ground. Clean the connector on the throttle and on the computer. Clean the 3 grounds on the engine and on the engine to body straps. This may be the only problem. The throttle has three circuits that go to the computer. It won't go into the limp mode (idle only) unless at least 2 of the circuits are lost. They are totally independent inside the throttle assembly and it isn't likely they both failed at the same time.

Problems with the APP that result in no throttle will set codes every time. Save your money and keep looking.

I had app codes several times in 150K miles. They always went away and stayed away for a very long time.???

THANKS for the usefull info and insight! As normal, I was ready to throw money at it instantly thinking it was the assembly. I have heard that they are a common problem but maybe people are inadvertantly cleaning things up by replaceing the $500.00(!!!!!!!!) assembly. I will clean thing up and go from there. I agree that it would seem to more then chance for two of three sensors to go bad instantly at the same time and then set no codes...

All I have had time to do was disconnect/reconnect the assembly. The problem has not returned. My local salvage yard has one but I do not know the history on it, the truck has 210,000. If the pedal has been replaced then it is a good deal....if not???? A new one is about $500. Hopefully I will never have to do that!
