I was talking with my dad the other night about the rarity of my 6.5. We were wondering what the production numbers are of these trucks, specifically motors.

If anyone can supply that information, it'll make me feel that much warmer and fuzzier that my truck is superior to the other billion GMT400s I see on the road daily. Also, don't worry about making me feel stupid when I say I've tried searching Google. I'm not that good at recognizing the difference between crap and information.

There is lots of 6.5's out there. Number one easiest way to notice them? The two air intake holes in the bumper. If it has them, it's a 6.5 or has had an engine/bumper swap.:D

I've been trying to find the same thing out. No luck either.

Well, AFAIK, there are two Barth M/Hs with the 6.5L TD, (my prototype and another in Seattle). A large number of Safari Trek 28's and 30's had 'em. So we RVers can account for a few hundred...:D

There a lot of them in marine applications. They're hard to spot, though. Their bumpers don't have holes (or shouldn't:eek:).

When I was ordering a part from Bill Heath I asked him how he could drop the aftermarket product for the 6.6. He told me That there were 185,000 of the 6.5 TD still on the road. Can not say that is a fact but Bill has based his business on it.

...there are a 'few' pushing Hum-V's around in Iraq, Afganistan, etc. They are not impervious to roadside bombs, however.

A few have even found their way into Jeep trucks, Cherokees, Wagoneers and even a CJ or two. My FIL has a 6.5TD in his civi version H1.
