i have a 99' sub 4x4. had tires and alignment done at a shop. i had complained about a moaning when turning to the left at slow speeds so they said i needed a new steering gearbox as well. they installed the gearbox but when i got the truck back, alignment was fine now steering wheel was not straight. i brought it back and they straightened the steering wheel. when i got it back this time everything seemed fine. however after several miles i realized i had to constantly make adjustments to keep the truck driving straight. it seems as though the steering is too tight. there is no "play" in the steering. i brought the truck back to the shop and they said the power steering speed sensor needs to be replaced for about $320 and that "should fix it". anybody know of this problem?
thanks,
Rich

Variable ratio boxes must be dead center to work properly, if you are correcting too much have the alignment done again.
That little adjusting plug in steering box can make things go bad quickly if not adjusted properly and does ruin the box.
Steering sensor on column may need replacement but only a good shop can tell you this. I've even had some fools say just remove the sensors connector and don't worry about it, cause they don't understand it.
I've changed out many boxes on my rig, but think the problem really is bad tech's doing the change out the parts until they get the right one, or maybe just an alignment was only thing needed.
One recent issue was adjusting cam washer on upper control arm was broken, alignment shop did not detect it I finally did, changed shops again.
