View Full Version : 1998 and later turbo manifold
I am being told that the 1998 and later 2500 trucks used a different RH exhaust manifold that placed the turbo futher forward.
Is this true???
How much diiferent is it????
My dad's 95 and my 98 look the same. Also, I just did a search on gm parts direct, and they list the same part # for 95 and 99, etc.
Hope that helps. Joe.

I swapped a '98 engine into a '94 truck, using the newer exhaust manifolds and didn't notice any difference when connecting to the stock air box and inlet tube from the '94.

When I did my conversion to putting 6.5 in my crew cab I had 4 engines setting in the shop I had all 4 tore down at the same time for rebuild I sent all the heads, blocks for machine work I also sent along all the manifolds out and had them surfaced to ensure good sealing no leaks their where no leaks I just used which ever part I picked up first when it came to putting on bolt on parts. I had a 94, 96,98 and my project 98 never noticed any differance everthing bolted up, did have to adjust anything to make them fix.
so long story, short they are all the same
Well as usual I was being fed poor tech.
I was in hopes that a newer manifold had the turbo forward more so it would not hit the old style AC box.
Hmmm may have to use a Banks manifold then
Thanks

P-van chassis used modified GM-X turbo and different manifold.
I have the turbo, will post pics (it's different)
I'd like the manifold though, I don't think it'll help the situation you and I have with the 6.5TD manifold in 80's style chassic tho.
The answer to your question = No.
