The oil cooler lines on my 98 6.5 apparently just blew - oil is dripping out of the lines - I can't find any other source. Anybody know of any improved oil lines, or oil cooling systems that are cost effective to install. I don't want to be doing this too often - the locations are a little tight. Also, have had trouble getting this truck to pass emissions test (lug down) in Denver area. Dealer put in new injectors - no help. A diesel shop advanced my injection timing - a little help. Finally Chev dealer said they found a misrouted turbo line, and it passed but barely. Its a 5 sp manual, so has to run the whole lug down test (from 60 to 40) in 4th gear - 2700 rpm down to 2000. Its a stock truck with a Goodwrench engine that was put in at about 30 k - the engine now has about 50 k on it. Its a good truck - gets about 16 on the road with careful driving. I just need to learn more about this engine. I can't afford to be running it into the shop every time it hiccups.

You can get a vastly improved set of lines from Greg at LubeSpecialist.

A lot of people on here have purchased them from him.

thanks for the quick feed back. Any and all help appreciated. The Chevy Dealer sure hasn't been much so far.

Yep, its very tight and took a lot of turns of an open ended wrench since I didn't have a socket that would fit. And expect to get real dirty from all the oil that has leaked. Next time I will pay someone to install them for me.
Also, if your engine is a Goodwrench engine it should have come with a warranty, and if still in warranty I would think that that warranty would cover passing emissions (could be wrong, but worth looking into).

As for emissions -sounds like lack of good airflow. Do you have a boost gauge? You've probably already checked the air filter and it sounds like they got you turbo wastegate working.

Another thing to check is the donut seals where the exhaust crossover mounts to the exhaust manifolds. My truck was down on boost a little bit and I noticed both donut seals were shot. I replaced them (about 12 bucks each) and what a difference. The throttle response is much better and boost is higher again. Heat seems to break them down and also if the crossover has been taken off/on (like for your engine replacement).

Hope that helps. Joe.
