BBB,

Unless you can find a used one, I believe the OilGuard Bypass Filter is only available direct - www.oilguard.com (http://www.oilguard.com) .. and yes the price has gone up ...

There are other options such as AMSOIL ... a Google search for "oil bypass filter" (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=oil+bypass+filter&btnG=Google+Search) yields several brands ...

Also try the BITOG Bypass Filter Forum (http://theoildrop.server101.com/forums/postlist.php?Cat=0&Board=UBB36) for more info ..

BBB-Dmax,

The AMSOIL Bypass (http://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/bf.aspx) is a good choice, especially with their newer, improved Ea Elements.

I believe AMSOIL offers you two options. The BMK-11 or the BMK-17a. The BMK-17a is the

I was just thinking of getting the BMK-11 single remote with the added parts like sandwich adapter, billet filler cap with the fittings to plumb up everything similar to the oil gaurd. Greg said this set up will work fine.

Dan,

Yes, the BMK-11 would be my choice too ... (In the previous post I mistakenly referred to the BMK-13 .. should have said BMK-11).. Also, instead of the sandwich adapter another option would be to use the 3/8 port on the oil filter adapter ..

like this ..

Amsoil also makes a nice swivel adapter that can be added to the oil fill cap for the return...

I went with the dual setup. i think bmk-13. I have commercial account with amsoil and so i get their best price. the spin-on adapter is 1 foot from frame mounted filter block. mounting was a breeze and the hoses are cut to length with their nice screw together ends. I used the available end plug on the filter block to mount oil pressure switch for my lift pump. (lift pump shuts off when no oil pressure). Oil change is a breeze with fumoto valve and filters so close to each other. Just make sure you order kit for the duramax.
I have used this setup on my 99 gasser and it has 270000 miles, my 04.5 lly and now on my 07 lbz. My lly was totaled but engine had 165000 trouble free miles, all towing backhoes, rocksaws and bobcats daily.

Bypass filtration is overkill, if your going to trade every couple of years, but for those who plan to keep their trucks for a longer time, its a no brainer. Anytime you can filter down to 1 or 2 microns, it just has to be better than any full flow through filtration that can be bought. I'm running the Baldwin full flows and Oil Guard bypass, but I got mine at a special price at a diesel event. Got to talk to the man who designed them and I was hooked.
Advice to anyone, Longiviety = Bypass filtration. If you double filter the oil and fuel, its pretty much buy it and drive it. You'll never see the dealer again unless you stop to visit every once in awhile as I do just to let them know how much you like your truck. Well not exactly never-------you know
