Just had another crazy idea. Would installing a air intake on the right side front quarter over the tires give better airflow? I'm talking like something similar to the side scoops on the 2nd gen Z-28's. I still need to get more cold air to the engine. If the scoop lines up directly with the air box, it should technically pull the air in very nicely.
Well I am not real sure of that spot BUT the reverse scoops that the firebirds and others have had that pull air off the high pressure zone at the base of the windshield sure work well.
This area will also give you a bit of a supercharge effect as the air pressure is much greater there as opposed to other areas around the body.
Sadly without wind tunnel data to work from I would have zero idea as to what the air flow around these trucks is doing.
Any way you can increase the flow of cooler air to the engine intake is bound to help some.

I have done that on my 96. If you would like a picture let me know. I rarely drive the truck, it is my next project. Planing on a frame off restoration. I have not posted any pictures on this site yet. I will see if I can figure it out. I'LL be happy to email them to.

Does it seem to work? What scoop did you use?

Well Im not sure if it works. I have only put about 5 miles on it since I did the mod about 6 months ago. It is just a scoop I got on ebay. In therory it should work. The air is directed streight into the air box and has a "ram air" effect. I did this more for the engine that will be going in later. Atleast I like the looks of it enough that I will be doing the same on the 93.

You guys should put a drop light in the fender, and then open the passenger door and see if you see any light. I bet you can!!! ( I sure can) So, wothout sealing those leaks up, you can't have a true ram air effect.
Also, take the grille out, and feel inside the tube that goes from the front area to the fenderwell area. There's a hole in it.

Yea, that is something like what I was thinking about.
