Hey guys back again & time to be back in the R&R,

I remember being advised of going to synthetic on my 94 turbo

But let's address old faithful - 1982 6.2 NA Mileage = duno

She uses oil but doesn' smoke at idle

No oil leaks

I was stoked the other day when she cranked cold with no glow in december ( maybe cheating w/ 2 x 1000 amp batteries or she's just loose!) remember I'm in florida but she still wasnt over 80 degrees-
The question:

Stay with Dino?

or

Will Synthetic make her live longer? (Help put off the rebuild looming some day in the future)

If Synthetic what's the best for the old / high mileage engine?

PS What's the high capacity oil filter #

Hi
Congrates on the old beastie

If you switch oils be sure and drain the pan VERY WELL (over night after hot run) and disconnect and blow out the oil cooler.
Switching in synthetic is ok but you dont want to mix the stuff.

Personally I would stay with dino and just keep it changed along with the filter every 3K and maybe add a bottle of STP to it.
250K plus is not all that hard on these engines if you keep the oil clean.

I have run Amzoil butr it can be hard to find some places especially if you travel.
Mobil 1 I think is ok.
Myself I use shell Rotella T 15-40 (DINO)

Use a good quality filter too.

Good luck

I recommend sticking with dino as well. I few months ago I put Rotella Synthetic in my 6.5l and it burned it like crazy. Switched back to dino and the oil level doesn't change at all over 2500 miles. I don't plan on running synthetic unless I install a full bypass filter so I can take full advantage of synthetic's extended drain interval.
